After speaking to advisers from Business Link West Midlands, Susan Port of Kenilworth, struck out and secured the exclusive UK and European rights to sell ‘Babynobumps’. Frustration drove the ambitious grandmother-of-six to seek help from the internet after years of having to look on helplessly while her grandchildren tumbled or banged their heads - risking a trip to A&E along the way. She has already sold out of some of her lines and had recently launched Babynobumps at the Earl’s Court Baby Show. "My grand daughter was forever falling down and banging her head and as there wasn’t anything around in the shops at the time so I went on-line and when I saw the product - I just fell in love." "It was difficult trying to establish my presence at the fair when I was up against Mothercare and Fisher Price and other well-known brands. But everyone who saw the product said they loved it and I’ve sold 300 online, which is where I achieve most of my sales." Babynobumps has been successfully sold across the United States, Canada and the Far East. Business Link West Midlands adviser Steve Bryan added: "This is a perfect example of spotting a gap in the market and capitalising on that." "We were able to advise Susan and help her secure the rights to the Baby No Bumps brand in the UK and EU." Her website is proving very popular and we sincerely hope the orders continue to flood in. Safety and fashion-conscious parents can take their pick from a range of eye-catching designs from Bob the Builder, to ‘Twinkle’ – there are lots of different designs for both boys and girls. Babynobumps comes in one-size-and can be used on youngsters up until the age of four. They are ideally used for babies and young children when they are learning to sit up, crawl and walk – (babies always lead with their heads so are vulnerable to head injuries) – but they can also wear them travelling in the car, at play, in baby bouncers. Trampolines, in fact, anywhere where there is a chance of head injury. "They’re so comfortable they often forget they’re even wearing them", Susan continued. "Unintentional injury is the leading cause of childhood disability – and sometimes results in death. With 2.25m children taken to hospital with accidental injuries each year, the financial cost to tax payers is high." "We also need to bear in mind many households have wooden flooring and block paving back gardens, which could increase the potential for an accident or injury to the head of a child." She concluded: "I’m just pleased I’ve been able to do something positive and provide something to help protect infants."
